Bronze Age Figurines from the Danube

These charming little objects seem to depict women clad in embroidered dresses. The date to the Late Bronze Age, around 1000 BC, and have been found all along the Danube from the Alps to the Carpathians. The ones above are from the Cirna Woda site in Serbia.

One reason these are interesting is that most of what we know about Bronze and Iron Age clothing in Europe, including actual clothes found in peat bogs, makes it look very rough and plain. But these figurines suggest that priestesses or other elite women had some quite fancy dresses.
